Rumour Round Up

Talked to a few people today. Was able to confirm a few rumours that have been posted on here over the last bit.

1. BC Soccer has requested the merging of the SMSA with Coastal, ND, Surdel, Tsawwassen / Lander, etc into a new district. Whether its in place for this fall who knows, but BC Soccer does in fact want it to happen.

2. There are 2 new fall club applications in place. One from some members of the Canadian Eagles and one from Vancouver United.

3. Canadian Eagles, GN, and Akal will not participate in the USSL this year. They are running their own league and/or are taking part in other leagues this spring summer. They are still in the USSA Tournament league. The remaining clubs are apparently going to protest by boycotting their tournaments, removing them from the schedule, and even possibly adding new tournaments in their place.

4. The USSL/USSA should start on time.

SMSA merging with Delta Dist should make issues/decisions more transparent and BC Soccer should step in make this merger happen. Delta Dist is organized and well run and there,s hardly ever any problems there.

Surrey clubs split up /form clubs constantly yet in South Surrey/Delta areas the clubs are joining together amicably for the better development of soccer .

Vancouver United joined BC Tigers & CCB 2-3 yrs ago , then moved to Surrey Youth [SFC] last year and now applying to become a fall club !!!

There is so much turbulence in Surrey soccer

There's already a Vancouver United. http://www.vanufc.com/home.php

LOL a rumour thread. This should be fun.

Re: the SMSA/Delta merger. Interested to see how Coastal Cup allocations go. D5 now does a Wildcard spot - but that goes to the 2nd place team in the A Group for the league cup (or the Division 1 league winner depending on how all the district cup and league cup results go). This is fair.

Delta gets a spot.

I am hoping that the SMSA/Delta district cup gets 2 spots, both finalists.

1- From the Surrey/Newton area , CCB supporting the merger with Delta Dist and SFC, BC TIGERS/PUFC opposing.
2-Van U and GN have applied to become Fall clubs
3- Some new tournaments this year

Canadian Rocks and Pacific Eagles merged to make Canadian Eagles. Akal is still it's own summer club, but associates with CCB now. In previous years they were with SFC. Funny how things change.

Resolution was passed at the AGM. PUFC will be renamed BC Tigers unless BC Soccer opposes I guess.

True.

But I think then it's up to BCSA to ensure BC Tigers are following the BCSA constitution/by-laws etc. Is the summer version of BC Tigers a sanctioned club? Are they a registered NFP? etc etc....

Fall/Winter club will be named BC Tigers FC , summer club is BC Tigers Sports Club. I agree this only further clouds the line for those in that community, it is a clear ploy to grow fall numbers by association with summer club...
wOnder where supposed club ambassador Jay Demerit sits on this.. or board member at large Wes Knight...

They are not really doing anything the other clubs arent doing. They all have spring programs and from what I understand, none seem to be sanctioned, so this should not be an issue any more.
