For sure, and there was some posts about the outlying teams "meeting in the middle". The next question, would either the league or intermediate districts be able & willing to provide that kind of service (organizing & coordinating fields, officials, equipment, etc) as a 3rd party to the outlying clubs.

If they are matched up rather than not play they could meet at Burnaby lake or similar. They both entered the same league and should be prepared to face anyone within their groups.

that was me who suggested that - based on BCSPL doing this already for Victoria v. T-O.

For us in South Delta, it's all the same. We travel to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge already. Adding West Vancouver is the same, just in another direction. I'd rather travel a bit to NOT see the same teams all the time, but I realize I'm probably in the minority there.

Delta? People who live in the Surrey area have no say - they are smack dab in the middle ;)

Hey! Delta and Surrey are distinct societies :D (unless you are part of SFDA, in which case it is all the same....) ;)

pre thanksgiving results have disappeared. Anyone hear when we may see the post thanksgiving schedules?

Looks like Gold is tiered geographically now as well. So, in reality - the merger hasn't changed a thing. Same teams playing the same teams.

which should have always been the case.
So you say, however, there is an email floating around amongst U17 rep coaches who do not want to be geographically tiered. It is mostly Div 1 coaches, and from what I can tell, the feedback is overwhelmingly in favour of cross-boundary (if that exists?) scheduling.

I know if I had a choice, I'd be happy to travel a little extra to play new teams, and keep it fresh.

Geographic tiering makes sense at U13-U14 for sure...but the older (maybe U16+?) it can open up.

That said, WTH do I know... *resigned shrug*

I'm with Rich.

But I suggest a compromise. You take your group. Play everyone once. Then rather than play everyone 2x, do cross group games. For the majority of people it shouldnt be an issue. If you live in Squamish, Chilliwack, I think you need to be a little flexible as it is your location that is on the outer reaches and some understanding should be there if you decide to be in the league.

u17-18 has fewer teams, generally, so geo-grouping probably can't happen anyway. u18 has about 10 teams right? If so, no point in two divs of 5.

Indeed. My point is the drive time should never be Chwk-Squamish, for example - which currently can and does happen. Restrict one-way drive time to.....I dunno, whatever the distance is Chilliwack to Burnaby. That's about 1 hour, and is no big deal once in a while - at the older ages.

At younger ages, games are short. 60-70 minutes. So think about driving 3+ hours total and only getting to play 20-30 minutes of soccer? heck, imagine driving 3+ hours to play 1 hour of soccer? Keeping in mind the game could be a complete mismatch, and there are teams of equal skill within a 30 minute one-way drive (generally).

Hey its a great Schedule! (not)
Anyone have to go to Sechelt? We did, the week before Thanksgiving. The new Schedule comes out, nice we get to go back this past weekend. We get to go back again Jan 6.
I feel sorry for Sechelt, their next 4 games are here in the lower mainland and 5 of their next 7.
Only 3 teams in our U13 g2 division play over in sechelt and there 8 teams in the division!
What ever happened to a balanced schedule?
Cheers,
Ian

Does anyone else feel that some of the points earned should have been kept? Move up or down they could be prorated, but it seems kind of silly just to wipe them off. Especially if the majority of your group did not change. If not, why not just call it pre-season then?

The points earned don't paint an accurate picture if the groups were unbalanced (which is likely).

Most groups were adjusted due to geography (which is not a good change in division 1) rather then performance. On top of this rule book states pre thanksgiving results would count in the post thanksgiving new groups
