Schedule isn't posted yet, but I've seen a copy.
Don't have any details, but it looks like standings didn't figure in the draw. For example, the top two teams in U18, SDU and Richmond, play each other in the first round. Anyone have any insight on how the draw was done? Random balls in a...
Well, they need to have some method, don't they?
Without a balanced schedule, awarding points for games not played makes as much sense as doing a "strength of schedule" assessment....bah, I don't have the answers.
Agree 1000% that a balanced schedule would be the best. I nominate @TKBC as...
I suppose they will use the criteria in the BCCSL rules for determining league champions...in bold below? But I'm only guessing.
At the end of the season, the U-13 to U-18 team with the highest number of points will be declared the League winner, unless a team(s) that has played fewer games...
Agree about the apparent communication level. Nothing on BCCSL, BCGSL, or district websites, which is strange. Communication is the biggest thing the league needs to sort out. Schedule changes have not been communicated, but left to clubs to find themselves, sometimes days before a match. A...
Not sure what the format for U11 will be. SDU is hosting the district U10 Jamboree, that will consist of 2 (shortened) games for each team over the one day. 36 teams in all from SFDA. I would expect U11-U12 will be something similar. Hopefully the host clubs do it up right, with...
This is what we got from our District...
Wildcards for Coastal Cup
The method for the awarding of the 4 Wildcards for each age group for Coastal Cup will be:
All Teams in Gold 1 will be ranked based on points earned in the league as of Feb 18, 2018
Any teams that have earned a Coastal Cup...
I think the size of the club should be irrelevant. Sometimes you get a group of kids at an age group that are either very strong, or very weak. It's all about putting players and teams into the best enviorment for their development. That is where there needs to be a much better...
I THINK it's to ensure there are no byes in later rounds?
For instance, if in our U17 group, we have 5 byes. If there were two more games, and only one bye, then the second round would have 6 games, then down to three, with one team having a bye into the final.
I dunno. Just spitballing...
So you say, however, there is an email floating around amongst U17 rep coaches who do not want to be geographically tiered. It is mostly Div 1 coaches, and from what I can tell, the feedback is overwhelmingly in favour of cross-boundary (if that exists?) scheduling.
I know if I had a choice...
"The Things Parents Say" could be it's own thread!
My favorite, from a U14 (I think) game: "How come the coach keeps asking Johnny to shoot with his left foot? He KNOWS he can't shoot with his left foot..."
For us in South Delta, it's all the same. We travel to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge already. Adding West Vancouver is the same, just in another direction. I'd rather travel a bit to NOT see the same teams all the time, but I realize I'm probably in the minority there.
It's raining. It's snowing. It's too hot. Too cold. We travel to much. We don't travel enough. The ref was shite. The ref never showed up. We do enjoy a good moan, don't we? :D;) Part of the deal, I guess!
So - this thread is only for the positive - what happened on the weekend, or...
