Player Transfers

Transfer deadline Jan 15 :
d) A player being refused a transfer by the player's team and/or club shall be allowed to apply, without fee, to BC Soccer for review. If the releasing team official refuses to sign the application form without just cause, BC Soccer shall have the authority to approve an application to transfer without the releasing team official's signature.

If the above option has to be taken by any player wanting to transfer , will the transfer still go thru after the deadline of Jan 15 ??

I would think that player is out of luck. In order to qualify for Cup/Championship play, the player must have played at least one game with the team prior. So if that player didnt play the last game prior to break they will not get to play with the new team this season.

m) Players must be transferred seven (7) days before taking part in any cup competition. This rule shall not apply to league games. A player, after being transferred, may compete in league games as provided by the rules of such leagues. All player transfers for league games must be made at least one (1) day prior to the game-taking place. The grace period commences from the date the completed application and fee is filed with BC Soccer. The transfer application shall be authorized by BC Soccer prior to the player taking part in any competition with the new team.

n) A transferred player shall be not eligible to play for the new team in any cup competition in which the player has already competed during the current playing season.

o) A player transferred to a youth team must play at least one league game before playing in Provincial Cup competition for the team to which he has been transferred unless under BC Soccer Rules & Regulations Updated September 19, 2015 Page 17 of 35 exceptional circumstances the BC Soccer Youth Competitions Committee may grant an exception to this requirement.

r) At the discretion of BC Soccer, and only in special circumstances, i.e., the case of a player having moved residence from one district to another, a youth player transfer may be permitted after the transfer deadline(s) specified in paragraph "b", Rule 7 - Transfer of Players.

t) Youth age players, to be considered eligible for youth district cup, inter-district cup, regional cup or provincial cup must have played at least one league game in a properly constituted youth league for the team to which he/she was transferred unless under exceptional circumstances the responsible cup committee may grant an exception to this requirement.

The official answer from BC Soccer...

If the transfer and application for review are submitted prior to the deadline and the application is approved it will be processed.
The bottom line is if the transfer is in by the deadline.

That's an excellent point. For Div 1-house the transfer deadline should probably be moved to early-December because now after Christmas cup games start the first week of January. Thus any transfers would not be allowed to play (if anyone was actually paying attention to rosters!)

BCSPL's transfer deadline is in December as well.

A mid-January transfer deadline does make sense for MSL because they keep playing league games after Christmas.

These rules are enforced in days gone by. I did get one exceptional circumstance granted once - they were reasonable and the decision was made swiftly. Very well done to BCSA and the local committee for doing that for the young player (he had moved into Canada permanently).

Makes sense because they might not learn the club or whoever is stopping the transfer until the 13th or 14th....

Thanks Everyone and re Cup competitions - n) A transferred player shall be not eligible to play for the new team in any cup competition in which the player has already competed during the current playing season.

If a player has played for a team in the Delta Cup and gets transferred to a team in Surrey District - is that player eligible for the Surrey Dist Sandra Duncan Cup ? The player has not played in the Sandra Duncan Cup so he should eligible ???

I wouldnt think so. If it were district cups then maybe, but these playdowns lead to the same place, or are ultimately part of Coastal Cup. I know if I was the affected coach I wouldnt be too happy about it.

EDIT: maybe I could be wrong. See below in BOLD. But the issue with being required to have played a league game is still a road block.

Also, from Coastal Cup Rules:

a. Registration
i. Players must be registered, or reinstated as a youth from adult player, or transferred to a team 7
days prior to taking part in that team’s qualification or Coastal Cup games. Players must also have
played at least one league game with that team before playing in District playdown or Coastal
Cup games.

Transfer/Registration Deadlines
i. All players must be registered seven (7) days before taking part in any Cup Competition.
ii. A player is entitled to a transfer by January 15
th of the current year for the Coastal/winter-playing
season. A player shall not be allowed to transfer during the team's playing season without the
consent of the team for which the player is registered.
iii. A player currently under suspension and seeking a transfer is not eligible to play until the
suspension has been served.
2016 Youth Coastal Cup Rules and Regulations 6
2016
iv. A transferred player is not eligible to play for the new team in any Cup Competition in which the
player has already competed during the current playing season. Playing in Girls B Cup qualifying
play and Boys B Cup in-district qualifiers does not cup-tie players for Coastal Cup.

v. Youth age players, to be considered eligible for youth district cup, inter-district cup or Provincial
Cup play, must have played at least one league game in a properly constituted youth league for
the team to which they were transferred.

I wouldn't think so. Because for all intents and purposes the Delta Cup and the Sandra Duncan Cup are both simply prelim rounds for the Coastal Cup.

You highlight playing in any given B-cup prelim (in this case Delta and Sandra Duncan) doesn't disqualify from Coastal - that's OK, I suppose. But one shouldn't, based on these rules, allow anyone to play in both Delta and Sandra Duncan (personally I see no issue with it. But, this is the rule).

Also just FYI, being permitted up DOES NOT COUNT as "playing a league game prior to any cup game". Any player transferred has to play a league game with the team AFTER the transfer to be eligible for District/Coastal Cup play with his new team.

I would assume "close of business" on the 15th as BC Soccer has to approve all transfers.

Got my answer from BC Soccer - the transfer deadline is midnight or 11-59pm . Cub registrars have to submit all the paperwork into BC Soccer before midnight and the transfer will be processed. BC Soccer closes at 4-30pm but as long as all transfer paperwork is emailed to them , they will process it commencing Mon 18 Jan.

Do players playing U11 Dist 1 SMSA require a transfer if they are switching to another team within the same club.
Transfer deadline is passed but not sure if it applies to players playing within Dist leage like SMSA

send an email to your TD, your clubs age group coordinator or directly to SMSA. I would never rely on this kind of information to be presented here accurately (because unless you hold one of those positions I listed you wouldn't really be "in the know")
