Metro Select Schedule for 2016-2017?

Imagine if Surrey had one msl team per age group with all the Surrey teams combined? They'd be dominating every age group easily. Each age group would probably be able to field 2 competitive teams. They'd be way more powerful as one unit opposed to 5 or whatever it is separate clubs.

The club would be authorizing any roster changes. If the club exec allows and supports the dropping of players, there's not much to be done.
I'm not sure if roster max is 18 or 20, but I wouldn't be signing my son up to play on a team with a roster of 20, that's for sure.
My son is U17 and I was really surprised to see 4 teams from Surrey in Metro. Seems unprecedented. And that's without SGU, whose Metro team is playing in U18. Crazy times, glad I don't live in Surrey.

A city like Surrey can handle 3-4 metro teams per age. Do I think they should have that many? No, but in the current environment they can handle 3-4.

From what I understand the MSL committee originally rejected the newly formed clubs Metro teams as they had capped the league at around 12 teams max. Those clubs appealled to BC Soccer and were granted permission for Metro teams. There are now up to 15 teams in some Metro divisions.

which is why BCSA needs to create a BCSPL 2, cap it at 12 Lower Mainland teams. the 6 local BCSPL franchises, plus 6.

That certainly would be the case. I believe each district should be capped at 2.

I saw from an earlier post that the METRO schedule is out and there was a link for it.
Why does it not show up as a link when using the "Leagues" tab above to try to find that information?

Unfortunately, league schedules are not hosted here this year.

Try each league website.

What? This is nonsense. So we go directly to District 5 website then? It will not even be linked here?

To avoid any further confusion, we've removed all the old schedules from this site (for ALL leagues).

Thanks for the schedule. Where on earth did you find it, I have been searching the web for two days. It is very confusing as the BC Soccer Central still is posting 2015 and it is not obvious! 6 days until the start of the season this is very unorganized!
It's too bad you've had such a struggle to find it. Our coach sent it out early last week!

No, I don't think you're wrong. They do that in some age groups. But I asked the person that originally told me about relegation. It would be for the following season. Bottom teams will have to play for the right to stay in MSL the next season. They won't simply be grandfathered in, as they have been in the past.
In my old club, last season there was a team that won the first game and lost every single game after that. By a lot, not close games. Yet they're back in MSL this season. And I'm sure others were denied entry as they only want so many teams in the league.

Strangely enough, that team you mentioned is 2-1 to start the season. Won last weekend 5-0. How things change!

I believe you said (Aug 30) that "In my old club, last season there was a team that won the first game, and lost every single game after that..." Incidentally, that team, as poor as their record was, did manage a few draws through the season as well. It's still early days, to be sure, but not everything is always as it might seem.

That same team (or at least the core of it) finished third in the Provincials at U13, missing out on the Gold medal match by one goal on goal differential. Things change year on year, and not always due to the players on the pitch.

Looks like the U15 Metro schedule will soon be featuring bye weeks. Hearing from a trusted source that one club's U15 Metro squad will likely be folded after a faction of several parents pulled the plug on the season this past weekend in order to jump to a private training option - leaving six remaining families in the lurch as collateral damage. It would seem predicated on political differences between parents and club.

Sounds extremely frustrating. Maybe this is an example of why trials etc should be in August-September not spring? Gives everyone a more relevant picture of what the coming season will look like.

Pity. Could they not come to terms by simply allowing the private option to coexist alongside of the club's program?
Yes field times and conflicts can and will arise, but how do either of the parties involved win when there is no established team to play for/with? Needs to be a middle ground somewhere.

Not close enough to know what - if anything - was discussed between said group and club, so I can't comment there. They wanted a particular coach, didn't get him for whatever reason, and as a result they have up and left.

I take your point, but in this case I don't think it would have mattered. Issues date back quite a ways. At a parent meeting in pre-season (ca. late August) verbal "commitment" for the season came from everyone.
