A quick poll on Futsal , should it be part of regular club programming?

Futsal is a regular part of programming at our club up to U9 or U10. The kids love it. Lots of touches, quick pace and quick thinking.

Absolutely it should, if at all possible. Especially for those U9-U13 age groups. Fantastic way to build touch and turning ability, and as said above..develop quicker thinking.

Excellent, what Club? We need more or better access to Futsal currently only real youth league runs out of Richmond and Burnaby, need something similar in Surrey / Langley..
I have used gym time to teach it, buts its not the same without the proper balls and goals. And elementary school gyms are too small.
Any one taken any Futsal coaching courses? I have Grassroots Futsal you get with BC Soccer's free tourney in Abby, but wouldlike something more advance if available.

4 the kids the Club is NVFC (North Van). We have a club coach from Brasil with a Futsal background. The program has been going since my son joined in 2011.

When my son was younger his team participated in the SFC Futsal program. I think they were u11/12. This program had a huge impact on their developement. I cant really put it into words as it was a long time ago, but their record on the field improved quite drastically. And they had a blast doing it.
Some association clubs are finally taking this approach to technical development. It's way over due since many professional youth coaches state it is extremely important to youth development from U6 to U13. Privately, I know Premiere Soccer Academy out of Coquitlam uses futsal as a training component within the winter months and is also involved in the Vancouver Futsal League ( VFL ).
From my experience many nations such as Portugal, Spain, and all of Central & South America nations use futsal as a key tool to develop youth. There is a difference between coaching a futsal player and using the game of futsal to teach a relationship with the ball mixed with decision making in congested areas. In Brazil, futsal is just as common as outdoor soccer. In fact, it is common in Brazil for youth players to not play outdoor soccer until the age of 12. At that point they will either decide to continue with futsal or take the foot skills and technical aspects that they learned from the futsal game and apply it to the outdoor environment.
Leading back to the question, should futsal be part of the club program? I think the question should be: What should the training frequency and age bracket be for implementing futsal into youth development programs here in Canada?
Canadians need to start looking at the LEADING nations for soccer development. Without going crazy on the list and acknowledging that I will be leaving out a few: Spain, Germany, Holland, Brazil, France and Italy. You could potentially go one step further and study: what are the specific clubs doing that focus on youth development vs the clubs that typically buy and sell. In order to give proper answers at this point, imo you need to truly understand the game. Professional youth development at the pro club level is seen at several specific clubs for many decades now. Certain Clubs such as: Ajax in Holland, Sport Lisbon in Portugal, Santos in Brazil, Barcelona in Spain, of course there are several others. Why are these clubs producing key players over and over. That is the question I want coaches here to start asking themselves. A little off topic, but it does come back to futsal is commonly used to develop players around the world, and has been for decades. But, only the past 5 years have we seen Futsal really "POP" up as a subject here in B.C., even than it is lightly used. I think I will stop there
