Ironically, they are slotted to play the 5DL Wildcard team in the round of 16... so if they lose this final, do they play CCB again in the round of 16? If they win, who do they play?

Hard to say for sure. They may select one of the Surrey teams who did better during the regular season SFC Elite or perhaps the coquitlam team who finished higher in regular season and looks to be in the finals in the B group

no adjustment required. The winner of the group is not based on the final standings of the round robin, but on the final game of 1st VS 2nd being played this upcoming saturday. Only change the error in formatting has made is home and away team which doesnt change the location of game (games locations were predetermined prior to round robin play). Suppose the only difference would be who gets to call the coin toss.

That may be so, but the errors in formatting are not limited to this instance. They need to reflect the rules we play by and right now they just dont.

I agree with you that standings should reflect the rules on tiebreak. My point was that an adjustment wasn't needed in this one instance as a point was made it would effect the entrance into the coastal cup.

I don't believe the final match has anything to do with the standings. In my understading (from the rules posted), it's the first place team once everyone has played each other in the playoffs.

Let's say if the 1st and 2nd place teams were not tied in points, they still play the upcoming championship match. And regarless of who wins the championship game; the team with the most point at the end of the playoffs would go on to coastal cup.

The rules clearly state that the 1st place team in U16 in round robin play qualifies for the Coastal Cup & based on the points system used all over the world its clearly CCB Inter who should be in 1st place due to a better GD . The final they play this weekend is not round robin play.

Firstly, I assume you are talking about group A in your age group.

Winning the league championship does not automatically grant a spot in coastal cup.

" Boys B Cup: The Mainland teams in the "Round of 16" will be made up of the nine district champions plus three ‘wild cards’ to be determined at their discretion by the 4 District and 5 District leagues/districts. The two Island district champions enter at the Quarter-Finals round."

Usually the winner of 5district league group A is invited is they are not already a district champion, but I'm not entirely sure how the wild card teams are chosen as 4district leagues don't run the same as 5district.

Makes sense to me. Because as I said if the league winner fails to win their district, and fails to make the league cup final they should definitely get the wildcard.

Looking at the standings his CCB Inter team should be in 1st place due to a better goal difference than NCU.

If the Coquitlam team is in Group B this would mean they finished below 6th in the league. They won't get a wildcard based on league play if that's the case, and Group B teams don't qualify for earning the wildcard (which is fair).

I agree, the rules should be clear who gets wildcard (if they don't already?). I suggest;

1. Regular season league position - ie, if 1st doesn't win their district they get it, if not keep going down to 6th place. If all of the top 6 league position teams win their district,
2. If one of the top 6 league position teams fails to win their district cup they would then get the wildcard. (this is important because every year there is an upset and some team that finishes near bottom of gold wins the district cup or a silver team does - happens every year)
3. Group B league cup round robin winner - if 1st and 2nd in group are tied on points then it's the winner of that cup final

#2 is important because if a team finishes say 2nd in the league, 3rd or 4th in the league cup but fails to win the district in a one-off that shouldn't be the end of their season. quite a few districts are very small - last year I won my district cup and we didn't even have to play a semi-final! we finished low in the league and got into coastal cup (won the first round which was nice!) but the team we beat in the final finished 3rd or 4th in the league and their season was over. Was that fair? I say no. the team we beat in district cup that was quite high in the league should have been considered for the wildcard for sure (they prob would have got it based on league position - they didn't do well in Group A).

Coastal Cup u16 schedule has been updated. CCB has been given the district 5 wild card meaning they will have a rematch in the coastal cup. what are the odds.

Happens all the time. The top teams tend to play each other quite regularly as the seasons go on - especially now with Wild Cards.
