Sincerest apologies to those persons and organizations that I may have wrongly blamed for the circumstance this weekend.
As it turns out the there may have been some "misunderstanding" or "misdirection".
I'm officially retiring from this forum after being a member for a whole 6 hours! Lol

After reading the last few posts here it's a nice reminder as I start working with my new team later this week that the biggest scourge in our sport locally is that people don't read emails ;)

I have been involved in the USSL for many years and always objected to USSL starting on the weekend of the Surrey Vaisakhi Parade which is normally always around April 22. Despite this on 2 different years USSL was scheduled to start on the same weekend and both times i strongly objected and urgent calls/emails had to be sent out 2-3 days before the start, so no need to point fingers at others cus our own mainly majority Sikh USSL board twice scheduled the leage to start on Vaisakhi Parade weekend.

I think what's fair to say and certainly what we have learned is that it's not easy to operate a league. Teams and clubs are used to different standards, timelines, communication protocols, etc... Whether it's Cascadia, USSL, or the fall leagues, it's really challenging and trying to get everyone together is difficult.

Patience and trying to work together to show improvement is important. It's a bit frustrating for sure when we (anyone who is trying to create a league) is blasted for doing the best they can, even if on occasion an error occurs. There's always going to be room for improvement. Always better communication. Always earlier timelines and planning.

What I do know is we have about 400 teams. Hopefully many of them are joining a league that has provided and outlet for players who may not have otherwise played soccer this spring. I know that most if not all of the USSL clubs and teams stayed with that league. If they have another 300+ teams, that's a lot of kids playing soccer. How about we celebrate that?

A loaded question LOL... generally I would say things are going quite well.

I think the biggest challenge is establishing a new product/league in a season that has been historically quite casual. We have 30 clubs and 400 teams who are all operating in different ways and on different timelines. Pulling that all together under one league structure will just take time. After a few seasons it will be refined and the processes more known.

We certainly have an appreciation for those who run leagues ;)

lol have all emails include a "read receipt" and if you don't get that back it's a fine :) hit em where it hurts! LOL, there's no good solution other than to live and learn, find a happy medium that works for the league, and then hope/expect people to buy in. Things will shape up in time just like you said!

Good way to get and keep clubs/teams in your league. lol

Cascadia is a very nice name for youth soccer league or senior men. There is so many leagues here that it simply make parents go nuts. All the leagues are looking to grab as much as they can from each child. Net result at U 18 is a beer league.
Kids go to Caps programs and if you reed papers there is much wrong there. In my opinion BC has to form true NWCSL and grow as a Unit. HPL is way over priced for level of soccer,Metro league lacks skill players due to HPL. Gold and lower is nothing more than a house league. Some day some one on BC Soccer will stop all this and make BC as a Unit forget splinter leagues and programs.
Steve Reed is top man now I hope he sends a guy out this way to clean it up and start true movement head.

TKBC Steven Reed is our head guy of Canadian Soccer Association Also at the same time to let Admin know. We have ten Provinces plus three non Provinces each one try's to run it's own program has nothing to do with Canadian program. It only gives a Canada program to select a player or two from each program. The way I see it that's why we have a very low standard in the World and local.
We need only one group of directors to change all this and a Canadian senior Pro League. Every nation as a group is running it's own programs with in the Provice. Kids are getting pulled all over the place. Net result is beer leagues. Most can not even make Div two program ion US. Ask your self why. Go and watch HPL you will see kids with house skill playing in it as long as they can pay.
