Your posts tell me that my belief we need a BCSPL 1-2-3 is correct ;)

u18 and u13 are the two most difficult ages to tier - no one really knows what they have compared to their opposition.

Lets leave BCSPL out of this as that can be discussed in the other topic.
And here,s 5 Div 2 teams playing in Div 4 against genuine house level players. What a shame & disgrace that Dist 5 chose not to do anything as per their tiering deadline date of Oct 31. This Leage should explain why they failed so miserably - this is the last year of youth soccer for these U18 players and i,m sure the teams getting demolished will not have happy/fun memories of this their last season.
I have full trust in my soccer knowledge of the 99 born age group and can easily tier them into 4 equally balanced Divisions and i offered to help in Oct but got no response from Lui Rossi DIST 5 CHAIR U18 DIV 4.JPG

Only one CMFSC Div 1 player moved down to CMFSC Div 2 and I think only one moved to another club.

Those clubs did not sign a lot CMFSC players. Only one CMFSC DIV 1 player moved to another club and one moved down to Div 2.

Apollo picked up only 3 MSL players. The metro team folded as several players moved to BCSPL or decided to stop playing.

CanadianSpur wrote- The CMF Div 2 team only had 9 returning players, 1 dropped from Div 1, 2 from out of club and 7 came from either div 3 or div 4 so no matter how long anyone has coached in this age group it would be difficult to evaluate where a team should be with that level of turn over. As they say in investments, past results do not guarantee future performance.

CanadianSpur wrote - I ask again, based on what? Last seasons results only? There is nothing from this season that could determine where a team should be other than the judgement of the club and coaches.

Canadian Spur, u must be involved with one of the Div 2 teams as u have a lot of info on player movement in the CMF/ PCE area and seem to be against teams from Div 2 moving up.
I had wrote the following line " some may have moved to WCA , moved down to the CMF Div 2 & PCE Euro Div 2 teams " .
There,s been a lot of changes in that area since last season in the 1999 born age group:
CMF Metro team - folded .
NCU a talented top 4 Div 1 team from last season - folded.
Thats about at least 30+ players .
I have def seen more than 3 new players on the Apollo team & the additions are all very high level players.

I do coach the CMFSC div 2 team so I know these rosters pretty well, although this was my first season with the age group as I was parachuted in when the previous coach decided not to return.

There are more than three new players on Apollo but only 3 were previously MSL. I believe 2 came from the NCU team and I played on an Adult team last season. There may be another that I'm missing but that makes 6 new players on Apollo.

I'm not against any of the div 2 teams moving up. My objection was from a couple of months ago when it was too soon to tell where the teams would shake out. It would be better to take the div2 division and move the bottom half to div 3. The top half excluding Langley are all reasonably competitive.

This will happen, but in groups of 6 starting at the top on down.

CanadianSpur , i have watched your CMF Madrid team a few times over the last few yrs when they have been playing @ NAP and the team has always played good Football in Div 2 . I actually watched your 2-1 win v SU Lions @ Cloverdale last week -your team played well 1st half but towards the end of the game SU team came strong- hit the post & missed a couple of chances. I,m sure your team can play way better than that.

We're a bit inconsistent. Some of the div 3 and 4 players that I picked up to replace departing layers sometime lack the tactical awareness needed but still I think we are a solid div2 team.

I was responding to LFC's logic, not saying that LFC was right.

Dist 5 even have standings incorrect - some teams have identical points/wins/losses and better goal differences but are placed lower,
U18 Div 1 standings attached . Both the teams placed lower have also beat the team higher than them in a head to head. DIV 1 STANDINGS.JPG

You can ask your club to place you in the lower group if you are worried.

I reckon these people don,t even know how to work out standings . Coming from a Football crazy place like England , even as little kids we would look out for the Divisional standings & so used to working them out. If teams are level on points , then the team with a better GD will be higher - nothing about asking anyone - its just how Football standings are worked but it seems Dist 5 don,t really understand :confused:
Example - 1. 2011-12 EPL, Manchester City and Manchester United were level on points :
Manchester City won the title by having +8 goal difference.

GD in youth soccer is not the tie breaker for a variety of reasonable reasons here.

Dist 5 rules on standings :
Errors in the unofficial standings must be brought to the attention of the District Representative within 4 weeks of the game being played. The 5 District League Board will make the final decision in all league standings. If necessary there will be a tiebreaker with the determining criteria as follows:
     Most points in standings
 Head to head winner. If no game was played between the tied teams then a final may be scheduled
     Least goals against
     Best goal difference
 Board will decide - Don,t really understand the reason for this ???

The 5 District Board, working with the Clubs, endeavors to keep the Leagues balanced and the League Board reserves the right to withdraw league privileges from, or reallocate to a more appropriate playing level those teams whose league performance is such that they are misplaced in this league structure.
We strive to promote the game of soccer and help players enjoy the game and improve their skills. Placing teams where they can enjoy the game and be more competitive definitely helps us to achieve this. In order to make league Divisions as competitive as possible the District Clubs are asked to make every effort to ensure that their teams are placed at their most competitive level.

The U18 [1999 born] age group is not balanced at all !
Teams that are dominating or struggling have not been reallocated to a more appropriate level !
There,s lots of teams misplaced in Dist 5 U18 and nothing has been done about it !
Teams in U18 have been placed in such a way that there is no way they can be enjoying the game or improving their skills -as they are getting demolished every week.
Soccer is not being promoted when in the same Div , there,s teams who have scored 50+ goals while others havn,t won a game !

indeed the last rule is very very odd! Has to be a coin toss surely if a one-off final can't be sorted.

teams 3-12 are probably in the right division - although did the 10-11-12th teams get their wins against only the teams below them?
