It is not common but of course we all need to be a little understanding because of the weather and all the backlogged games.

If there is less than 24 hours notice you could talk to your club rep. Best case they may get a fine. Of course you need to prove that they didnt reach out to you AND you made every effort to contact them. In situations like these it is good to know that you MAY play on Friday but the schedule isnt finalized yet.

If no contact is made contact your club to get the ball rolling. Thats what the rep is 4. Maybe they can get the other club scheduler to move a little quicker.

Sometimes no field space is available; you may even agree to get to host the game instead.

- Can the opposing team refuse the schedule for any reason or are they required to play at the scheduled time and day?

- Can clubs cancel weekday evening trainings to allow remaining games to be played?

Not sure about other areas but all 4 Newton turfs still have partial snow covering and Tom Binnie is fully covered.

Im not aware of his age group so I couldnt say for sure but for older ages. Yes.

You are lucky - lots of snow here still.

Not sure the rule for latest schedule can be sent. Is it Thursday night?

If a team refuses the scheduled game time they forfeit that game. Ideally the two teams can work together with the host club to accommodate a requested kick off change.

Clubs can cancel training to schedule make-up games but keep in mind usually turf is shared by 4+ teams so that's a lot of teams losing training so 1 team can play a game. Usually make-up games are set for Saturday-Sunday. *usually* But a mid-week game needs both teams consent (not sure if that's a written or unwritten rule - but either way it's a reasonable one).

Actually, the warning is thru Thursday, with rain tapering off later on Thursday. Intermittent rain through the weekend. Wellies and brollies!

Thursday evening is the latest that an away team should be notified.

I've had an away team refuse to play on a Sunday even though given notice on the previous Tuesday. They cited the 5 district rules.

Given the season we've had you'd think everyone would want to get the games in when ever a field can be secured.

What rule did they cite? They want two options I assume?

5. Game Days. Generally, U-12 to U-16 and U11 Development teams play their games on Saturdays, while U17 and U18 teams may play their games on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Some teams may play home games at night. If clubs submit their home game day to 5 District that is registered with the league website, the game will be played on this day unless agreed to by both teams."

Fair enough! If you club picked a specific day and that specific day is on the league site then ya....it's reasonable. But at this point I would find it odd if teams didn't agree to any make-up days offered. But that's just me, I guess.

I'm not sure that the club picked a certain day. Almost all games are shown on Saturdays on the website by default unless a club specifically say otherwise. That's always been my understanding.

but the opposition wouldn't know if your club picked that day or if the web site did it by default, you know? Anyway.....not an easy scenario.
