5 District Schedules for 2016-2017?

I believe there was talk about re-tiering at Halloween this year, instead of Thanksgiving, but I don't know if that was just a suggestion or will actually happen.
When will the tiering come into effect - this weekend or next weekend?

Lots of good ideas here. Anyone interested in volunteering to serve on league boards?

You first. :D:p;)

Joking aside - no. Done many years at club and district level. Don't even have kids playing. Wrangling a league schedule is for someone with far more time, patience, and tolerance than I.

For the Nov 5 weekend, is what I was led to believe.

Should we expect movement or status quo like in previous years? I know there are huge blowouts happening, but again for a team to move up, another may have to be playing poorly to move down.

Anyway, I'll wait with bated breath.

Your guess is as good as mine.

So if we project out in U16 Div2 in 5 district by December
WCA will have a +50 differential and Langley will be +58 in half a season
All this does by leaving teams like this in divisions like this is discourage the lesser players on lesser teams from signing up the following year.

Krutov , totally agree with you , but people come up with all sorts of excuses not to tier by moving teams up/down . Dist 5 has some teams with 30+ goals scored already !

The U11 & U12 divisions in Dist 5 have been "tiered further" by splitting them up into A,B, & C sub-divisions.
Most of the sub-divisions have 10 teams each, with a couple of exceptions that have 8 or 12 teams.
Looks like they're moving things gradually to avoid potentially jumping the gun on some, while waiting for a larger sample of games/results for guidance. It makes sense, IF they are planning on re-jigging again after the next 7 weeks. That would effectively give us three "mini-season" with which to evaluate and group teams together. Could work.

I think there always needs to be perspective.
1. U16 Div2 WCA team has a large goal differential because they have played bottom dweller teams and feasted. The only beat Langley 3-1 and Chilliwack 2-1 . Like always how do these teams to against the top teams vs the bottom teams. Also what does re-tiering for 6 weeks accomplish? Every gets reset in January for cup play. Then again if you are a bottom team getting smoked every weekend the perspective might be a little different...
Addition: For U11 and U12 it makes since to re-tier now and perhaps again in January as there is no cup play or standings, balanced schedule is important.

Because they will play "the bottom" dwellers many more times, padding that total. What does that prove? Who does that help? Only WCA.

And before anyone says "they expected tougher competition" they have not and could easily request to be moved up, but they would rather "FEAST".

To be perfectly fair - it's very hard to judge what you have for a team when it's formed in the spring, and how that team will stack up to the rest of the division. Some use spring leagues as a gauge, but those leagues are usually some patchwork facsimile of what the real thing will look like.

That said - when a team starts to crush (or be crushed) every game, then they should pro-actively ask to move up or down. If the ones doing the crushing choose to stay...then yeah, results are their driving factor, not challenging the players.

To me the worst are teams that dominate the division multiple years without moving up. All about the trophies for them, which is a shame.

As for WCA - yeah, they trounced us 0-5, one of those a PK...but to be perfectly honest, the game was a lot closer than that. They finished their chances...we didn't. (except for one that went in, but the ref didn't see it...grumble grumble grumble...)

@easoccer - looks like some reshuffling is happening. Some games missing from standings now... ASA dropped to Div 3 for BCT Whitecaps. WCA and LUS still in Div 2. That's all I can tell so far. May not be done yet.

From what I heard the reason u11-12 was just Div A and B to start was because not enough clubs identified C teams. My club did identify C teams but were put into the B division and were essentially ran-over by much stronger teams. The only reason I can see clubs not naming C teams is ego. So glad to hear they've gone to 3 tiers again.

What's achieved for 6 weeks? Teams get competitive games for 6 weeks. That's reason enough. Re-group in the cup in January based on overall records.

One of 4 total moves requested from what I heard. 1 in u15, 2 in u14 and one in u16.

I'm not sure what they have going on but so far it looks like the season was rolled back two weeks. I wonder if they will update the scores again?

Yeah, I can't see this being the finished product. Following the "Save your work as you go" philosophy :D
