Hello There,

I am extremely confused and disappointed on why a cup play down is not happening for U12 div. for 2016 We had a cup play last year at U11 and for some reason there is no cup play for U12. Why is this and why did it change? I have been told to talk to my club as to cup play and they have told me to talk to the league so I am just getting bounced around.

Please explain

Thanks

I know that in Delta District this is what's happening. During the season there are no scores / standings kept for U11 & 12, so the rationale was why transition into a Cup tournament where results all of a sudden matter?

After the Xmas break, U11 and U12 teams were re-tiered, and will play the other teams in their group, culminating in a jamboree-like day to end the season.

I guess the logic is simple - score are not reported to not allow competitive play for any cup or championship.

Appears counter to what popular belief is around this!!!

Perhaps your league has recently adopted the CSA LTPD (Long Term Player Development) directive, which recommends no scores or standings are kept or published for U12 and younger. Checking your league website may tell you if that is the case. And what LTPD is :)

For example, one daughter plays U12 (Select) in the BCCGSL and while game results are collected, they only to serve to help do re-tiering during the year and as a guide to tier U13 the next year. U12 & younger House teams play internal (younger) club teams or inter-club (U9-U10) league games, again no standings or championships.

For BCCGSL U13 is when scores and standings are published, and play for group League Championships.

Yup. If you're in Delta District, no cup standings, following LTPD. Instead of a championship cup final, there will be some form of jamboree to end the season.
