All districts showing byes now that the schedule is up through December.
Looks like U18 Div 3 & 4 are merged.
Also U17 Div 2 is gone...our Div 2 team shows in Div 3. Not sure what that's about.
What a gong show.
I agree. It may make sense to join South Delta ( Ladner / Tsawwassen ) with Richmond.
Is driving to North Shore any worse than Chilliwack or Mission?
Never happen though.
2 separate leagues - Richmond in 4 District, Delta in 5-District - may be part of it. Not sure it makes sense for a club like Coastal to join 4-District and have to travel to West Van.
It may make more sense geographically for the South Delta clubs to join Richmond District.
There may be...
Sounds about right.
What gets me is this is a chimp show every year. Like the start of the season is a surprise or something.
I know clubs add/move/drop teams at the last minute, but is a balanced schedule really that hard??
And no...I don't want to do it!!
Believe what you like. I can't be arsed to convince you otherwise. I sat in on all of the merger meetings. It's silly to say we lost our district. Same could be said of SMSA. Same could be said for South District as well.
How are we going to operate as a merged district? Not my...
Soccer Mom...apologies. That first sentence was snarkier than intended..there was supposed to be a ;) in there somewhere. Chalk it up to not enough coffee yet.
@SoccerMom Thank you for the lesson on how my own district works. Let's just politely agree to disagree. I've been on the "boutique" District Board, and I'll take Delta's administration anytime over the infighting, poaching, politics, and team movement that seem to be par for the course in...
Sure, there are problems in every club. If any club has 100% of it's coaches, players and parents happy, I'd be looking at what's in their Kool-Aid. All of them look better from the outside, but none are wonderland, for sure. When problems in Surrey are mentioned, I am referring to problems...
About 2 days before the first games. After 3 changes.
I jest. Hopefully this week...last year was right after Labour Day.
I would not like to be the sucker doing schedules for this. Just working on practice schedules for my club has me hiding under my desk talking to myself...
It's funny, in all these discussions Guilford seems to be the forgotten club. I don't know a ton about them, but I know the teams in the groups I've seen are well coached and try to play footie the right way. Small club doing it right? I hope they don't lose whatever mojo they've got going.
I beg to differ...North Delta may or may not have their own internal problems. But Delta District is not a mess. In fact, all 4 clubs (3 now) had good working relationships. There was not the infighting and political games that seem to plague SMSA. One of the reasons for BC Soccer pushing...
I think we bring up a lot of negatives because we want to fix them. Otherwise we wouldn't care enough....or maybe we just like to bitch and moan...hahahahaha
And 100% agree with the bit about interacting with great parents and players - and coaches!
We started that experiment 3 years ago, yes. The first year we did this was with the group I'm coaching now. Running combined Div 1 and 2 teams. Ladner Girls and TSW have been doing that for a bit longer. It got the tech staff from each club working together a bit more, so made the...
I thought it was a max of 5 out of district players per team? Either way, I think the clubs most affected by the District Merger will be North Delta and the Newton clubs, at least on the boys side, as Scott Road disappears as a District Boundary. That will be the most player movement, I think...
TSC and LSC merging is absolutely the best thing for the soccer community in South Delta. All 3 clubs voted over 90% in favour of the merge last year, and most of the parent / coach feedback has been "It's about time!". Looking forward to getting on the pitch, though, as an antidote to all...
I think it will be pretty smooth. There will be, and have been, some growing pains, and some bruised egos along the way, but overall it's been very positive. All exec members are on the same page...more or less. Fingers crossed!!!
Same here, any petty squabbles are settled quickly. Sure, every club has their egos, their "cowboy coaches"...we're lucky enough to have decent communication lines btwn club exec, tech staff, coaches, and parents. Could it be better? Of course. Working on it!! :)
