Other than LUS and WCA, yes, it is a competitive division. PMO played Div 1 last year, beat us 3-1 with the last goal coming on the last kick of the game.
NDS we drew 1-1, CFC we beat 3-1, and we lost twice to GAC, both times 1-2...so all really close, very competitive games. The way it...
Reasonable suggestions. Only problem - how do you know how to schedule against the stronger and weaker teams? No one could really know who those teams are, especially at the U12-U14 age groups, when player movement and individual player growth patterns can change things for a team drastically...
Lost 2-5 to Langley. We had some spots of controlling the play, but were mostly chasing. 3-0 at halftime. Young lady reffing and two young kids assisting...all 3 did a fantastic job. May have been different if the game got chippy, but it didn't, unlike past games against this team...
Yeah, that's why I said "where field layout permits". At two of our turf fields, the benches and bleachers are on the same side. At Holly Turf, the players benches are on opposite sides, and the parents are supposed to be on the same side as their team. It may not actually be a rule, I could...
Flip side of this are the teams playing above their level. If they're getting blown out every week, they need to be dropped, from a competitive stand point. I don't mean being 0-6 and and losing every game 1-2 or 1-3, but being 0-6 and getting your arses handed to you by 7-8 goals each game...
If we're "on" we should be OK. We just can't zone out... need to match their speed and intensity.
Regarding parents, I thought there was a 5-District rule that parents need to be on the same side as their team to keep sides seperated (when the field layout permits). Maybe that's just a...
I meant it when I said I'm looking forward to it...I'm always up for a challenge! :D It's why we enter Coastal Cup playdowns. We know we'll come up against Div 1 teams, but the competition is good for the boys, especially going into League Cup play. And more games are always better...
We had a nice win against Chilliwack 4-1 (1-1 at half). Really could've gone either way. Our keeper stopped a PK and they hit 2 or 3 posts. They had us on our heels for a good portion of the first half. We picked it up in the 2nd. I'm not sure they had any subs, and then a late red (2...
Fines to the club. If the game was protested, the league could check the team list handed to the referee. Forfeits and possible other sanctions if the team is found using ineligible players.
Yeah, it's two weeks worth of scores gone. One for us was our bye, so meh...weird that they'd wipe out the Oct 22 scores.
I'm gonna go with "not done yet" and see what happens over the next few days
@easoccer - looks like some reshuffling is happening. Some games missing from standings now... ASA dropped to Div 3 for BCT Whitecaps. WCA and LUS still in Div 2. That's all I can tell so far. May not be done yet.
I think the permit rule is doing what it's supposed to...
Permits only allow you to call up a player from a lower division within my own club...so as a Div 2 team, I could call up from Div 3 or 4. Can only call up the same player a maximum of 3 times. No call ups after Dec 31. (for cup)...
Made the trip to Abbotsford - nice facility at Mouat...haven't been there in 3-4 years.
Went with 3 regular defenders missing, one sub, and a Div 4 call up. Ended up with a nice win. The Abby goalie was terrific - definitely player of the match for either team.
To be perfectly fair - it's very hard to judge what you have for a team when it's formed in the spring, and how that team will stack up to the rest of the division. Some use spring leagues as a gauge, but those leagues are usually some patchwork facsimile of what the real thing will look like...
