Schedules should be out by Tuesday. But delays are understandable. Thursday evening is the latest I would be ok with.
Opposing team cant refuse a weekend game or it will be a forfeit. But it is common to agree to a schedule change to accomodate the other teams.
Yes. Games can be scheduled...
Ive coached many summers and find abscences to be even accross the board no matter the time of year. 75% of the team is always there and the rest always seem to have some other distraction.
Vacations are split in winter and summer. Then there are weddings, etc.
In the winter we complain about...
We need to remember there are new coaches every year. I know when I started I had no idea where to get any info at all. Its nice if the club site has current information.
First priority should be common sense. Then an email or text from the club. If none of these apply any coach can check field status.
But I do agree, websites should be kept up to date. This is a problem for many clubs.
Currently there are updates at the start of season, then all further...
Maybe the Cascadia league could be pilot project with 11 management aiming for something bigger. And even if they arent, a smooth summer league could lead to further opportinities.
I found, in my own experience, volunteer coaches to be somewhat more dedicated as well. Minimal abscences, show up early, leave late, mentor kids. Ive known many paid coaches to not be as such.
The schedules and standings were on this site for years without issue. Moving them away is a big mess. At least in the short term. Im sure this site would have put in extra effort to keep things running.
RIP George, but a lot of the issues were are facing is because of the control he wanted/had...
Playing devils advocate here. Sometimes the competition at NAP is good for the players. I have seen several go from the bench on one team to starter on another. Being in this fishbowl allows for other opportunities. And yes I know there are clubs outside of Newton, but this is much more...
The sx cup is quite succesful so maybe this will be as well. Are they doing it for free? There is something in there for them. Possibly advertising, mailing list, consultation fees, or the like.
Not sure but there is a section on the site inviting other clubs to apply. I enquired with my club and they said its an option. Apparently they had a midday meeting during a work week so some clubs that are going to be participating are not listed yet.
My question is how will it be run? Like...
I know everyone wants scores etc, but imagine how much less pressure there is for these kids/coaches going into games. Every game is approached in a similar fashion. You dont know if you are playing 1st or last.
Not ideal for most, but also would be interesting to survey the players/coaches and...
