I've heard there was not a volunteer in place yet in the 4D district to collect scores. Not sure if someone 'retired' from this lucrative volunteer postion recently or not ( tongue in cheek).Teams were told to submit all their results once someone was in place. Hopefully this happens soon.
From what I understand the MSL committee originally rejected the newly formed clubs Metro teams as they had capped the league at around 12 teams max. Those clubs appealled to BC Soccer and were granted permission for Metro teams. There are now up to 15 teams in some Metro divisions.
Agreed
The 6-0 U15 girls score was a bit of an anomoly. Mountain and Fraser Valley were the top 2 teams in the standinds I believe. They played a 1-0 or 2-0 game earlier in the season that I saw.
I don't think you should judge based on a final score Exclusively . These teams beat some good opposition to reach the finals. Some of the winners lost to the runners up and others over the course of the season. Some teams rise to the occassion and others just have a bad day. You'd have to check...
I really like this structure model.
It really makes it a clear pathway. Players should be able to move up/down seamlessly. At leadt below BCSPL I guess. If BCSPL clubs had a reserve or BCSPL 2 team, player movement would be easier accessed between the two.
I like a lot of your ideas. I agree that MSL would be beneficial if it was run as a 'reserve' team. Not sure if the current model would work though. The same cost issue could arise. I can't see anyone wanting to pay $5,000 to possibly play 30% of a metro match. Currently players on the training...
I heard a number of metro teams were not accepted by the MSL committee. Those teams appealed directly to BC Soccer and have now been accepted. I don't know which clubs or how many teams that will increase the numbers to.
I hear what your saying. I've also helped with rides, hahded down soccer cleats etc. It's unfortunate you weren't shown appreciation from the family/player. It's a much easier pill to swallow when your are least given a 'thank you'. Every situation is unique. It's just easy to generalize on a...
I think most clubs would and do help some of these players and have allotted funds to do so. It is hard to sometimes get the word out to these families that these programs exist. You sometimes have to prove you fall below the poverty line by way of a recent tax return. There are those families...
I think you need to be careful when making some of these statements. If someone was helping to take my kid to practice, games and helping with the costs involved I'd appreciete it no doubt. It would also allow me to work a few more hours at my low paying job to put food on the table. Sometimes...
This article is points to the same issue here in Canada. I'd like to hear ideas on solutions rather than dwel on the problems. There are a lot of great minds with ideas I'm sure. The problem will always be the money. I'm sure there a number of coaches/parents and volunteers that would love to...
I saw somewhere recently the West Van mens team is moving from the VMSL to Fraser Valley after winning 2 consecutive championships. I'm wondering why if Vancouver is stronger?
I'm not in loop as far as approval for Metro teams being approved but my guess is the meeting went ahead. The Metro website still seems to be listing last seasons info at this point.
My sons team played in the Delta Metro invitational (U13) tournament this past weekend. The teams entered were...
