...and just when you think it couldn't get worse.. Scandals Mount For Vancouver Whitecaps as it Emerges Academy Coach Left Previous Job Amidst Allegations of Racism

Glad to see this getting increased traction, but would like to see more than a token 10-minute walkout. Not knocking the supporters at all (things have to start somewhere), but I think more meaningful action is required with this club, which just doesn't quite seem capable of "getting it".
Oh joy... Our Coastal Cup draw for round 1 is a team we’ve played no less than 5 times already this season, including league, playoffs, and tournaments. Damn you soccer gods...
Yes, there does seem to be a bit of a pattern emerging. I’m very hesitant to say there’s a “culture” with the club, as imo that would be tarring too broad a swath across too many in the organization, but there’s no doubt that there’s been some poor leadership.
Also, as a soccer parent for more...
Well... there's been the blog post, the reportage, a wave of social media discussion, and editorials. Honestly, I thought there'd be something in the way of comment/discussion here by now... any thoughts, responses, etc.?
Any variation of the "shark" drill would also be useful -- ball control, decision-making on the ball, and off it (defensively). It's a good exercise, particularly with low-attention span kids, as there's too much going on to get distracted...
I can see the reason for the mixed feelings. It’s disappointing to see things turn out this way. With the current season window, BCCSL is between a rock and a hard place, with season ending just before spring break and Coastal Cup starting immediately after the break. Add to that the fact that...
LOL -- haven't thought about that crown in decades! Absolutely right, it must have been at least 4 feet from highest to lowest point looking across the field. The only thing I don't miss from Empire were those @ss-numbing benches for seating. Thankfully, the team had promo seat cushions, which...
To borrow a little from teenage parlance... I had no idea this was a thing. I guess we've been lucky so far then. Had games cancelled for sure, but along with everyone else. Never experienced having played, only to see it not counted. Just doesn't make sense -- particularly when there's a PPG...
It was a different era, that's for sure. The Caps were getting 23-24,000 per match regularly, and selling out around 27,000 at old Empire Stadium. It felt like 40,000 fans each and every time. BC Place is a beautiful facility, but sadly it's cavernous space makes even a good crowd of 20,000 feel...
Yes, I'd heard something about that, but without doubt the league would have known that the majority of fields were going to be closed. Why would/could BCCSL not call off the few matches that were going ahead before they took place? I mean, what is one to otherwise think when the refs show up...
Sigh... Just left shaking my head at the BCCSL at this point -- it is what it is.
Our team played our BCCSL scheduled playoff match this past Saturday (Feb. 23) as the field was open. We win, and by a large enough margin to secure (on PPG and goal differential) what would be winner's position...
I believe the Final is scheduled for Mar. 9. IF the weather cooperates between then and now (no major accumulations of snow), completing the round robin (2 matches) should be possible using one or both of the weekly training session blocks for Div 1. Warm ups would generally be doable as well...
Judging from the current conditions, and and fact that flurries are in the forecast for Thursday too, I'd speculate that we've seen the end of playoff round-robin play at this point -- with finals to be based off playoff standings to date. Season for U13-U18 is scheduled to wrap up on the 24th...
