It has been pretty frustrating. We saw the schedule with the bye in it for this weekend and informed the team and then the next day the November 11th second round game gets moved to this weekend. Parents are rightly annoyed by the poor execution and communication.
Agreed that "merging" MSL and BCCSL is a good idea. I think the idea is to have some form of committee made up of technical directors from various clubs involved in allocating spaces within the gold tier.
I haven't read through the entire thread (I had intended to take a year of coaching but got called back - a story for another day) so apologies if this has been covered but here are some things I've heard.
SPL2 has been put on hold by the SPL board as the CSA is looking to implement a...
Richmond was still participating in 4D as of the last district meeting as per the minutes. I don't know if anything has changed.
Again the 3D league says only U10-12 so no idea what is happening for the rest.
In looking at Surrey United website it appears South Fraser is going alone for U13-18
The most recent minutes from 4D (June) make no reference to a merger. Only the current four districts plus Tri-Cities were represented so I don't think there is any "merger". The only change is the movement of Tri-Cities from 5D to 4D.
The 3D league appears to be a limited age group specific...
I didn't think the districts were involved on sanctioning leagues below u13. The 2D league is most likely an initiated created local clubs with the blessing of their respective districts.
I'm not sure that the club picked a certain day. Almost all games are shown on Saturdays on the website by default unless a club specifically say otherwise. That's always been my understanding.
This this the section they cited:
"
5. Game Days. Generally, U-12 to U-16 and U11 Development teams play their games on Saturdays, while U17 and U18 teams may play their games on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Some teams may play home games at night. If clubs submit their home game day to 5...
I've had an away team refuse to play on a Sunday even though given notice on the previous Tuesday. They cited the 5 district rules.
Given the season we've had you'd think everyone would want to get the games in when ever a field can be secured.
Ideally following the model of top footballing countries sounds great. The problem we face is the lack of processional clubs. In many countries top youth development is provided by the academies run by professional clubs...That is the real "infrastructure" we are lacking in Canada.
As long it's his decision you support him. My daughter changed clubs at u14 because of coaching and while she was apprehensive but we supported her and she made the decision as to where she wanted to play. In fact she left a club that I'm still associated but even so, we supported her choice...
I don't think there has been an official statement but I heard it directly from someone in the BCSPL board. I don't know the number of teams discussed but I believe the okanagan and island were excluded so possible 2 teams for each if the lower mainland franchises. What wasn't clear was if these...
Just a point of clarification... there are 9 districts in the lower mainland so 2 teams per district would be 18 which would definitely be a watered down league.
Having one club get an MSL team in addition to the district team presents all kinds of problems as then every club wants to be...
A few yeas ago I remember missing one week of games due to fields belong closed for extreme cold. I remember a different year where we had field closed for snow cover but nnot lasting as long as this.
