The shame is that we play during winter, and the "most important games" are during the worst weather period. Change the playing season. Extend the season etc.
What is your proposed solution? With cities closing fields due to snow getting the games in will depend on that. More snow is predicted. When are the Finals scheduled to be played?
The league could require the home team to get the game in if the fields open in their community before the final...
This is adopted from District 5, which had been running it's "league championship" this way for a few years now. It's an outstanding way to finish the season IMO as it gives every team something new to play for.
Go to the BCCSL web site. It will make sense. I can see why you are confused because it says "part of the first division." This is what happens when reporters write on something they don't understand. They also write out BC Soccer Premier League then put "(HPL)" in brackets. It's not called HPL...
News to me. Never heard this rumour. Who told you this? Where is this written? Metro is already part of Div 1-2-3 etc. It's the top tier in BCCSL with div 1 being the 2nd tier so on and so forth. Can't see how any of this would impact BCSPL.
I am hearing this as well. It will be a tough transition at first as kids move from NFP's to academies, and back and forth. New teams join leagues etc. But once the dust settles after a year or two it will be no issue. Each year kids will move, new academies will start, and traditionally strong...
So many interesting questions and comments. As RRS said, a lot will often come down to one coaches preference (aka, bias) over another coaches. This is just human nature.
I'll take a poke at a few based on my own perspective, and nearly 30 years experience in local soccer as a player and coach...
lol grumpiness is a special friend of mine!
They probably have internal issues and that's just the way it is. Field space, ref availability, coordinator issues, computer issues, issues with the City etc etc etc etc.
Were you playing a team from the old District 5 (Fraser Valley)? Even last season almost no clubs (certainly not in the u11 age group) at all posted schedules ahead of time.
I hear ya loud and clear.
The league rules say "Thursday" - it might specify "evening" but I can't recall. It's in the league rule book anyway.
Yes, most clubs, including mine, seem to be able to schedule ahead of time nowadays. But it does appear not all are able. My guess is that's due to...
Yes it was a minnow but we've played plenty of minnows and we broke our single game scoring record. Got some debuts (or just 1 - David?) as well! This team has by far the most attacking talent we've ever had. So how we do against a Puerto Rico or an El Salvador type team will be intriguing. If...
The initial tiering games are also meaningful and useful for sure. For every nation of every level except maybe our elite nations of Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, and USA. Canada should of course win all of it's initial round games.
It will most certainly benefit our nation. Games for points...
Nothing wrong with the facility in Abby. Would need a lot of upgrading with pop-up stands and covering the fence so people can't watch for free. My concern with Abby is attendance and corporate dollars.
Percy Perry would be OK, but would need same upgrades as Ex in Abby. PP has a Skytrain stop...
This is the beautiful part of sport discussion. Disagreements.
I also agree the first team should east of Fraser - North Surrey is my opinion. Langley or Abby would not be good at this point, I'd think.
I just also think a Vancouver team with the right owners and stadium would be just fine...
They put the first one in Victoria because a) Victoria had the ownership and b) they had the stadium. The Fraser Valley team didn't get off the ground, by any account I can find, because they didn't have the stadium they wanted/needed.
You believe MLS and CPL can't co-exist in Vancouver? A...
