Sunny Surrey: Pacific United Suspended

What sort of bailout and from who? From this year or last?

They were in big debt. BC Tigers offered to take the debt for control of the club. PUFC refused and BC Tigers have their own club now. I can only assume that debt is still intact.

PUFC and Derricks academy are both suspended now. I wonder why.

Ah ok. Did not know that.

So yeah, power struggle seems to be the right term...between clubs. What an unfortunate gong show...

Id be inclined to think money may be at issue with the club and academy suspended. But its just a guess.

That would seem to be a logical assumption, but until any real information comes out, it's all guess work.

From what I know, some if it has to do with people being directors for both the NFP PUFC and the FP Pro Touch Academy and the money trail not adding up. This includes changing financial statements for the same year along with the constant changes in the directors.

There is something about shareholder loans and it isn't clear if the operation of PUFC is even viable, i.e., they cannot possibly afford to operate.

You are right on the money with that analysis ...

finally get some info:

from SMSA WEBSITE:

Pacific United Football Club is currently under suspension for all soccer related activities pending further judicial process.

The SMSA District is working in conjunction with BC Soccer and its member clubs to find a resolution to allow the registered players of PUFC to continue playing. If you are a registered player or a parent of a registered player or coach, please email the SMSA Chair with any questions.

What 10 teams ---- How can a club only run with 10 teams ??

I am told Pro-Touch Academy and PUFC is same guy running the show.

Such a shame that politics is spoiling the game in Surrey . This is the 2nd time within a year that a Surrey soccer club has been suspended . There,s about 5-6 winter clubs in Newton now which will only stunt player development with clubs fighting over the same pool of players = poaching , teams being broken up , new teams being formed with addition of poached players , teams being withdrawn from the schedule due to losing players in late Aug etc.

An update from BC Soccer

September 14, 2016

BC Soccer statement regarding Pacific United Football Club’s interim suspension

On September 8, 2016, BC Soccer’s Judicial/Discipline Committee placed Pacific United Football Club, it’s directors and executive director under an interim suspension from all soccer related activity pending a further discipline hearing which is scheduled in September 2016. The suspension is based on various allegations that have been brought forward to BC Soccer, all of which have been provided to PUFC. Note, the club’s interim suspension is not related to the allocation of metro select league (MSL) team spots.

BC Soccer understands that suspensions of this nature impact on a large number of individuals and not just those who are board of directors. Therefore, BC Soccer would like to make it clear that the players that are currently registered with PUFC which make up the teams, are currently not under suspension.

BC Soccer’s discipline committee panel as part of their decision, and in order to ensure the players/teams that are currently registered with PUFC are able to continue to play while the club and its directors are under the interim suspension, have directed the districts to ensure the continued operation of the PUFC registered players and teams.

Therefore, the district of Surrey Metro Soccer Association (SMSA) is currently working with the other member clubs within their district to address this situation and ensure keep the players playing. BC Soccer and SMSA have requested from PUFC the contact information for the registered players to allow appropriate communication, however this information has not been received to date.

Therefore, if you are a player/parent that is registered with PUFC and have any questions regarding playing and team operation, please email the SMSA Chair, Harj Dhaliwal with any questions (chairsmsa@gmail.com).

At this time, BC Soccer will not be making any further comment regarding the interim suspension of PUFC and its directors

Folks just wait and see, we are making lot of assumptions based on SMSA and BCS statement. Now the new rumor is that the statement released by BCS about not providing them player contact info is false and if this is true then BCS and SMSA will be responsible of disrupting players/parents and or teams. some the the parents are not happy with BCS it may be the reason that they know what the truth is. This is going to be very interesting because in the past no one questioned BCS the way they run the show. Hope it favors the game of Soccer.

I'm sorry but i have to ask who exactly is making assumptions.
Your whole post is rumour and gossip.
I simply shared the statement by BC Soccer. to pass on the info , no other comments were made.

This is what we know :

Fact: Pacific United has been suspended by BC Soccer pending a hearing scheduled for later thsi month as a result of allegations brought forward to BC Soccer
Assumption: the said allegations have something to do with the financials, and perhaps Pro touch Academy...

Fact: BC Soccer understands that suspensions of this nature impact on a large number of individuals and not just those who are board of directors. Therefore, BC Soccer would like to make it clear that the players that are currently registered with PUFC which make up the teams, are currently not under suspension.

Fact:

Fact: BC Soccer and SMSA have requested from PUFC the contact information for the registered players to allow appropriate communication
According to BC Soccer this information as of the writing of their statement had not been received

Assumptions/ Rumour : Now the new rumor is that the statement released by BCS about not providing them player contact info is false and if this is true then BCS and SMSA will be responsible of disrupting players/parents and or teams. some the the parents are not happy with BCS it may be the reason that they know what the truth is.

Beyond this thread but related

Fact: There is a power struggle going on in Newton between 4 or 5 groups
Personal Opinion: The greed that drives this is cancerous, these groups all pretend its about the kids but it isn't. How can anyone believe that fragmenting current clubs, and teams be good for anyone. This community has so much potential but greed and power is destroying it. These groups need to be collaborating not sabotaging each other.

The statement about making it clear that players and teams can still play - could that not have been made sooner, like say, before the season started?

I'll agree that greed and power are struggles ruining things but I gotta say, so is the lack of clear communication in the community.

I was thinking the same thing. But PUFC played under CCB in the summer. Maybe issues arose.

Crazy that this is happening yearly now.

BCSA does not take action like this lightly. They would have already done an investigation, spoken to witnesses, read emails etc. It's a big deal that takes lots of (personal) time. Also, the people involved are entitled to a certain amount of privacy until allegations are proven or not.
I think it's great that BCSA is attempting to keep the kids playing during this time because that's the real issue. I hope the club complies with that.

Yeah, I thought I read many moons ago somewhere that to be registered as a club you needed a minimum of 4 teams which I guess is the same as 44 players.

No games for PUFC teams this weekend.

The latest: "SMSA is requesting BC soccer to temporarily remove the suspensions of two positions so that the final rosters for the teams can be finalized. If this is allowed, and rosters confirmed by Monday night, the district will run these teams until the hearings have taken place. They would then play next weekend."

Sounds good atleast the district is doing making efforts to get kids to play.

Perhaps the district can get teams playing soon and bill PUFC for fields and refs , etc. while they sort their mess.
